If you’re in the Andamans and haven’t tried scuba yet, you’re seriously missing one of the best parts of being here. The PADI DSD at Havelock is meant for complete beginners—people who’ve never even touched scuba gear before. You don’t need to swim, you don’t need to know anything about diving, and nobody’s going to quiz you. They take you out by boat—not some beachside dip, but proper open water—and that’s where the dive happens. Clear water, quieter spots, and more marine life.

The instructors are solid—they walk you through all the gear for about 45–50 minutes before you get in the water. Breathing, signals, mask clearing, all the basics. Then they suit you up and take you down, one-on-one. They usually choose Nemo Reef—it’s calm, shallow, and great if you’re new. The entire process, from pickup to drop-off, takes around two and a half hours. No pressure, no technical stuff—just show up, listen, and enjoy the ride down there.

PADI DSD at Havelock Island – What You Get

The cost covers everything, so you don’t have to think about extras. If your hotel or resort is within 3 kilometers, they’ll pick you up and drop you back. The dive site will be Nemo Reef. It can be reached by boat, and that’s included too. When you get there, you’re given all the gear: wetsuit, fins, mask, tank, regulator, and weights. Nothing is missing. You’ll be with an instructor the whole time, one-on-one.

Before the dive starts, there’s a 50-minute briefing to walk you through the basics—how to breathe, use the gear, and signal underwater. Then, you head down for a 45-minute dive. They’ll also take underwater photos and videos and give them to you without charging extra. At the end, you get a participation certificate from PADI. Show up, suit up—they handle everything else.

PADI DSD at Havelock Island – Who Can Join and What to Expect

Anyone aged 12 to 50 can join. If you're above 50, you’ll need a fitness certificate from a doctor. Swimming isn’t needed. This is designed for first-timers. The instructor stays with you the entire time—you’re never on your own.

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the boat. There will be free pickup and drop-off within a distance of 3 km. The instructor will brief you about everything before the dive. They will show you how to breathe underwater and what the ways are to clean your mask, and they will teach you how to adjust the pressure. Then the instructors will help you gear up and lead you to the diving site. The dive will start slowly and go deeper into the marine world. It will be safe and under the supervision of the instructor. You won't need to worry about anything technical.

You will be diving into the clear water and untouched and vibrant coral reefs, with colorful fish and a possible sighting of turtles. This dive won't be going deeper than 12 meters.

PADI DSD at Havelock Island – When and Where to Dive

Mornings are when the sea’s at its quietest. Less wind, fewer boats, and the water stays clearer. That’s why most dives happen early, anytime between 5 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. You don’t pick where you dive. The crew checks the water that day and takes you where it’s safe and clear. You will get to dive at Nemo Reef, which is far from the usual crowd and has the right conditions for diving.

You spend about 45 minutes underwater. Including pickup, training, diving, and return, the whole activity takes roughly 2.5 hours. These dive locations are beginner-friendly. The water is usually warm and calm, with excellent visibility. Great for photos and for staying relaxed underwater.

PADI DSD at Havelock Island – Why It’s Worth Trying

This package covers everything from pickup to drop-off. This diving doesn't need any swimming skills or prior experience. It is especially designed for beginner-level participants. Everything is arranged for you. The instructor is with you the whole time. It’s safe, calm, and fully guided.

You get a real dive in the open ocean with actual marine life, not a pool or test area. You come back with underwater photos and a certificate. Most people who do this say it’s one of the best parts of their trip.

The value is solid. No hidden costs. No gear rental fees. You get the full experience, with photos, transport, and support included in one price. It’s beginner scuba diving made simple, especially for people who want to try something new in the Andaman Islands.
