    How to Reach Andaman Islands?

From Kolkata, both air and sea routes are available. Tourists can avail these routes to reach the Andamans. Under most Andaman tour packages from Kolkata, you can book either a flight or a cruise.

    • By Air

Flying is the quickest and most preferred manner of arriving at the Andaman Islands. There are non-stop flights from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, to Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, which takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours on average, so it is a quick and comfortable way of traveling. The flights on this route are performed by different domestic airlines, which open the route during the tourist peak season. The flights are very convenient in terms of the timings and the connections that work, which means they are perfect for families, honeymooners, and seniors.

    • By Sea

If you want to have a different and thrilling journey, then you should opt for the sea. There are limited services of passenger ships from Kolkata Port to Port Blair. A sea voyage takes 3 to 4 days usually, but it depends on weather conditions and sea routes. If you go by ship, you can have a great experience of the Bay of Bengal, but it is very time-consuming, and there are very few ships available. Generally, this option is for a few adventurous budget travelers, whereas families with kids and people who are on a short trip will usually not choose the same.

    Travel Convenience

Despite the option of traveling by ship, the air route is still the most preferred one due to the aspect of comfort, time saving, and the reliability of the flight. For this reason, most of the Andaman tour packages from Kolkata are planned in a way that the flights are direct and there is maximum connectivity and the holiday time is prolonged in the islands.

Best Time to Visit the Andaman Islands

Choosing the right season for your Andaman tour package from Chennai is the key to making the most of your trip.

Peak Season - October to May

Most people consider this period to be the best time for the Andaman. Ideal weather, calm seas, and a great offer of water activities. The beaches are also perfect for this time of year. There is hardly anything to beat a sunset, snorkeling, diving, and island hopping during this period.

Shoulder Season  - July to September

During this time period, there are very few tourists and prices are at their lowest. In fact, rain may occur at times, and the sea may be rough, thus making it difficult to take the ferry; however, you will find the natural surroundings to be very beautiful and the islands to be tranquil.

    Monsoon - June to September

Generally, water activities are limited during heavy rains and strong winds. Also, traveling by boat is not advised under such conditions. The beach remains the perfect place to be if you decide to combine your sunbathing with other activities and are looking for a time without interruptions. The peak season or the dry season, which lasts from October to May, would be a better option for you.

General guidelines of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Holiday Packages from Delhi

There are a few rules and conditions that are followed by the tour and travel companies. These are as follows:

Alternative sightseeing arrangements are usually made if a scheduled sightseeing trip gets canceled due to certain reasons. The price of Andaman holiday packages varies for national and international tourists, as there are certain restrictions on movement, the difference in entry fees, etc.

For foreigners or NRIs, the package price is comparatively higher. The detailed price scheme can be taken from the tour operator. They may also require a visa to visit certain locations. However, no visa is required for Indian nationals.

There are several islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands that are inhabited by unique and rare aborigines. They live in complete isolation and seclusion in order to preserve their civilization and culture from the outer world. The Indian government, as well as the forces, is committed to protecting the purity of its culture and race. There are certain areas on the island for which a special permit is required to visit.

A few areas get inaccessible, and ferries stop plying in the monsoon season (months of June, July, and August). Most of the tour operators inform their clients about the timings and accessibility probabilities. For instance, Jolly Buoy Island gets closed during unfavorable weather conditions as it is prone to cyclonic destruction.

Itineraries might be subject to prior or last-minute changes if there are any unavoidable circumstances. However, the changes will be informed to tourists in advance.

Best Time to Visit Andaman Islands

The best time to visit the Andaman Islands is during the period from October to May. In this period, the weather is good with temperatures, and it is perfect to go to the beach, take part in water sports activities, and do any kind of outdoor activities.

If you are looking for Andaman tour packages from Delhi for couplesthen the colder months are more romantic as the weather is good for taking a walk on the beach, watching the sunset from the boat, and having dinner by the sea. Families will find this time of the year very comfortable for outdoor trips and visiting the likes of the Cellular Jail, Museum, and National Parks.

The monsoon season - June to September- should be avoided, as heavy rain and high seas can cause the ferry schedule to be delayed or canceled, and water activities will not be possible.

    What an Underwater Wedding Involves?

Like any other wedding ceremony, an underwater ceremony is also a wedding ceremony, the only difference being that it is carried out under the water. It is an intriguing concept for sure but couples, who want something exclusive love this idea a lot. Tying the knot under the water is a great choice for you if you are a snorkeler, scuba diver, surfer, ocean lover, or simply an adrenaline junkie.

The bride and the groom will be required to wear a mask and a scuba unit. It should be ensured that they both get the perfect fit for everything. If you both do not know diving at all, then a few scuba diving lessons will be given to you so that you are comfortable under the water. However, there is also an option of wearing an underwater helmet, as no training will be required then. A safety briefing will be given before your wedding ceremony. After that, you will dive down wearing the necessary gear. During your underwater wedding ceremony in the Andaman Islands, you can either stand up or kneel. The choice is completely yours.

    uw1.jpg

How is the Underwater Wedding Ceremony Conducted?

Whether you want to tie the knot, exchange the rings, or exchange your vows, anything can be done in an underwater wedding. Diving slates are used for a written version. There are a few ways in which you can hear each other as well. You can wear underwater helmets with audio systems or a full face mask with com units. And then, you can exchange the rings. Seems out of a fairytale, doesn’t it?

While wearing a scuba diving mask, kissing your partner for the first time as a married couple can be more awkward than romantic. But it must be absolutely okay with you, given the kind of rare wedding you are having.

You will be ascending to enjoy a festive party with your guests after the underwater wedding. Just change your clothes and join the fun.

Remember to check the weather forecast on a regular basis, as your dive may get postponed or cancelled on the day due to poor weather. Good visibility, no currents, and preferably warm water are the essential requirements for an underwater wedding.

There is only one airport in the Andamans—Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair. It takes nearly 1 hour and 50 minutes to reach there from Chennai. The round trip costs approximately Rs.6,000. Flights are faster and more comfortable. Thus, it is a preferred option.

    Luxury-Cruise-from-Chennai-to-Andaman.jpg

You can also reach Port Blair by sailing from the ports of Chennai. Operated by the Indian government, the voyage via these ships takes nearly three to four days (50-60 hours). Haddo Wharf is the main seaport in the town. Three to four sailings take place from Chennai every month.

You should know in advance that these passenger ships are not cruise liners and thus do not have entertainment and food options. Moreover, booking can only be done from the shipping corporation office in Chennai. The booking process is quite time-consuming.

Online booking is not available. Ships are cheaper, but general passenger ships are more troublesome. If you are travelling between May and October, then seasickness is also common. However, if you want to experience a voyage amidst the blue sea, then we recommend a ship journey. It is an unusual adventure in itself.

Operated by the Indian government, the voyage via these ships takes nearly three to four days (50-60 hours). Haddo Wharf is the main seaport in the town. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q1.   What usually feels rushed in an Andaman itinerary?

The most common complaint is not sightseeing. It is transition time. Ferry reporting, hotel check-outs, luggage movement, and fixed schedules can make a short trip feel smaller than expected. The additional day in the Andaman Best Seller Tour Package often helps reduce that pressure compared with shorter itineraries.
